"... without any question this book will very soon be established as almost indispensable determination literature because of its detailed nature, which is not achieved by any other work in German language" (T. R. Lohmeyer in "Zeitschrift für Mykologie").

"... all in all a goldmine for those who are interested in gilled fungi." (T. Læssøe in "Svampe").

"A fantastic work... I don't see any reason why the "Pilzkompendium" should not become t h a t standard work all will use." (M. Elfström in "Jordstjärnan)

"There is no iconography known to me, which reproduces macromycetes in such accuracy, expressiveness and faithfulness of colour scheme." (A. Hausknecht in "Österreichische Zeitschrift füpr Pilzkunde")

"A book to rank among the works of Lange, Ricken, Bresadola...". (N. Arnold in litt.)

"When finished, this compendium will be without any doubt the most important publication on European macromycetes of the twenty-first century." (M. E. Noordeloos in "Persoonia")

"deserves to be regarded as the single most important iconographical reference work on fungi that ever has been produced" (M. Tortelli in "Field Mycology").

In the meantime the author was honoured for his work with the prestigious "Anton-de-Bary-prize" of the "Regensburgische Botanische Gesellschaft".
